Birthday Weekend
The birthday that I was dreading has come and gone. . . . for weeks months I was trying to fight the arrival of October 9th but I haven't found the magic to stopping time yet. . . . Paypay wanted to throw a big party but I absolutely didn't want one. He asked what I wanted to do I told him that I wanted to spend the day with them and dinner at Ponti's with our friends K&M. The plan was to spend Friday just the three of us and on Saturday have dinner at Ponti's while Chickpea had a slumber party with her buddy Mado.
Chickpea didn't have school on Friday and Paypay took the afternoon off. We had a really nice afternoon skating and they made me a nice dinner, accompanied by a Chateauneuf-du-pape and the cake was oh so yummy! I got a kitchen-pass for the day and while Paypay and Chickpea made dinner I talked with my friends and family that called with their birthday wishes, I also read while sipping a very nice glass of wine. . . . spoiled indeed.
Saturday evening arrives, the girls are whisked away by Ellen and we got ready for dinner. We are about ready to go and M and Paypay suggests that we call a cab, great idea! A few minutes later, Paypay casually says "hey the cab's here.", I turn around and parked in the street is a black stretch limo! ! ! ! What the??!?!? I turn back around and I see the three of them laughing while Paypay is holding a bottle of Veuve Cliquot. I couldn't believe it. We get in the limo and break out the champagne. Dinner at Ponti's is always delicious and on the ride home the driver drove us around Seattle... very spoiled indeed ! ! !
We stayed overnight at K&M and had a big breakfast. Paypay headed to the Seahawks game and Chickpea and I stayed until lunchtime and we headed home. I needed to pack for our trip to NYC & Quebec. Chickpea napped for almost 3 hours while I did laundry, read on my new Kindle and wrapped in my snuggie from Chickpea.
It was a great birthday weekend and although I was kicking and screaming against it; Friday did arrive, I did turn 40 and it ain't so bad.

L'anniversaire que je redoutais est venue et est passee. … pendant dessemaines mois j'essayais de combattre l'arrivée du 9 octobre mais je n'ai pas encore trouvé la facon d'arreter le temps encore. … Paypay voualit faire une grosse fete mais j'en voulait pas du tout. Il m'a demandé ce que je voulais faire et je lui ai dit que je voulais passer la journee avec eux et un bon souper chez Pontis avec nos amis K & M. Le plan était de passer vendredi juste les trois et samedi soir aller souper chez Ponti pendant que nos filles jouent ensemble chez K & M.
Chickpea n'avait pas d'école le vendredi et Paypay a pris son après-midi en conge. Nous avons passe l'après-midi en patinant et ils m'ont fait un bon souper accompagné d'un Chateauneuf-du-pape et le gâteau était si délicieux! J'avais conge de la cuisine pour la journee et pendant que Paypay et Chickpea preparaient le souper j'ai pu parlé avec mes amis et famille qui ont telephoner pour me souhaiter un bon anniversaire. J'ai aussi pris le temps de lire en sirotant un bon verre de vin.… assez gate.
Samedi soirée arrive, les filles sont parties avec Ellen et on s'est preparer pour aller souper. Nous etions prets a partir et M et Paypay ont suggère d'appeler un taxi, bonne idée ! Quelques minutes plus tard, Paypay dit "le taxi est arrive" je regarde par la fenetre et je vois garée dans la rue une limousine noire ! ! ! ! Que se pass-t-il? ! ? ! ? Je me retourne et je vois les trois qui riaient tandis que Paypay tient une bouteille de Veuve Cliquot. J'en croyais pas me yeux! Nous avons embarques dans la limousine et debouche le champagne. Dîner chez Pontis est toujours délicieux et sur le retour a la maison le conducteur nous a conduits autour de Seattle… tres gate ! ! !
Nous avons couchés chez K&M et avons eu un bon petit déjeuner. Paypay est parti pour la game des Seahawks et Chickpea et moi sommes restés jusqu'au diner et nous sommes retournées à la maison. J'avais besoin de faire nos valises pour notre voyage a New York et au Québec. Chickpea a fait une sieste pendant presque 3 heures tandis que je faisais le lavage, et lisais sur mon nouveau Kindle enrobé dans mon snuggie cadeau de Chickpea.
C'était un week-end d'anniversaire super meme si je me suis debattu pour qu'elle n'arrivent pas, vendredi le 9 octobre est arrivé, j'ai eu 40 ans en fin de compte c'est pas si pire que ca.

Changes, an update
Can I say "I told you so" to myself ? ! ? ! ? !
Our decision to change Chickpea's school was the right one. After two weeks she has adapted beautifully and acts like she's been there forever. She can't wait to get there in the morning and talks about her day on the ride home. She totally enjoys choosing her outfit for the day, making her lunch with me each morning and is proud to show me what she did during the day.
Gone are the 30 minute peel-her-off -of-me in the doorway. Hello to the kiss-and-hug-and-wave goodbyes.
It feels like a 10 ton weight has been lifted off my shoulders knowing that she's at the right place for her. Ouff!!

Notre decision de changer l'ecole a Chickpea etait la bonne. Apres deux semaines elle s'est tres bien adapte a son nouveau milieu et c'est comme elle etait la depuis toujours. Elle a hate d'y aller le matin et elle parle de sa journee sur le retour a la maison. Elle aime choisir ses vetements le matin, elle m'aide a preparer son diner et elle est fiere de me montrer ce qu'elle a fait durant la journee.
Parties sont les matins de passer 30 minutes a-la-decoller-de-mes-bras dans l'entree. Bonjour aux calins-et-signes-de-la-main au revoirs.
On dirait qu'un poids de 10 tonnes s'est leves de mon dos en sachant qu'elle est a la bonne place. Ouff!!

Kathou's new ride
Who knew that buying a new car would be so tedious and a pain in the ass?!?!? I've had 4 cars in my life the first three where in my late teens/early twenties and I bought clunkers that I could afford at the time. My fourth car I bought 13 years ago and I knew exactly what I wanted so I went to one dealership and got the car I wanted.
A few months ago we started to think about trading in my Honda Accord sedan for a new car. My Accord is a great car it never needed any major work other than the usual maintenance and it runs great but it is a sedan and it isn't practical for us any more. It didn't qualify for the Cash--for-Clunkers program by 2 lousy miles so we decided to wait a little longer.
In the meantime, we test drove cars left and right to narrow down our choices. We went from a BMW i128 convertible (for kicks), Volvo XC60, Lexus RX330, Acura RDX, Acura TL, Acura TSX, Honda Accord, Honda CRV, Honda Fit, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Venza, Toyota Matrix, Scion XB, Mazda3 & Mazda5. I'm leaving a few out but you can see that we tried them all from compacts to the larger SUVs. We both loved the Volvo XC60 and I loved the Acura TSX but felt that for a 'second car' it was too much money. I was getting frustrated because everything we tried I didn't like something about how it drove or the engine was not powerful enough and we had to spend alot more $$ to upgrade for a decent motor.
On Friday we picked Chickpea up and headed out to try a few more vehicles. Finally I tried one that I really, really liked and it also got Paypay's approval! Yay... we finally found something that met our requirements, it was cute and had the model/color on the lot. We began to negotiate and 2 hours later I drove out of the lot with Chickpea in the back........

Qui savait que faire l'achat d'une nouvelle voiture serait si pénible?!?!?! A present dans ma vie j'ai eu 4 voitures les trois premiers vers la fin des annees dizaines ou bien au debut de la vintaine et j'ai acheté des voitures plus veilles que je pouvait me permettre. La quatrième voiture que j'ai achetée il y a 13 ans et je savais exactement ce que je voualis donc je suis allé chez le concessionnaire et a pris la voiture je voualis.
Il y a quelques mois nous avons commencé à penser à changer ma Honda Accord berline pour une nouvelle voiture. J'adore mon Accord je n'ai jamais mis de l'argent dessus sauf de l'entretien habituel et elle va tres bien mais avec Chickpea elle n'est plus pratique pour nous. Elle n'a pas qualifie pour le programme Cash-for-Clunkers par 2 petites milles donc on a décidé d'attendre un peu plus longtemps.
En attendant, nous avons conduit des voitures à gauche et à droite pour trouver celui qu'on aimerait. Super !… nous avons finalement trouvé quelque chose qui répondait a nos exigences, elle était mignonne et ils avaient le modèle/couleur dans le stationnement. Nous avons commencé à négocier et 2 heures plus tard j'ai sorti du concessionnaire avec Chickpea assise a l'arrière.

Changes
I finally did it..... I bit the bullet and enrolled Chickpea in another school.
For quite some time now I've been weighing the pros and cons of enrolling Chickpea in another school. In July both Paypay and I met with the director, her future teacher, the french teacher and stayed to observe the classroom. We were impressed and scheduled Chickpea's 'evaluation' and she was accepted. This specific school was our top pick because they have a french program. Although we are teaching Chickpea french at home we feel she needs the extra time this school offers.
However as summer progressed and the impending possible relocation loomed over our heads we opted to stay put and see what would happen. We did win the big project and decided to stay here for now then adjust as time moves on. But all this took longer than we expected and school started 2 weeks ago and the new school kept creeping back into my mind.
On Sunday morning I took Chickpea to the park since it was beautiful and warm outside. I took a seat on the half wall and let Chickpea run around and have fun. A few minutes after arriving another mom and her kids arrived. She sat close by and we struck up a conversation which turned to "Does your daughter go to school?" "Yes, she's at ......, are your kids in school." "Yes they go to....."
Whoa wait a minute! that's the school I wanted to send Chickpea to. So I started asking questions and she was nice enough to answer them and then some! We talked for over an hour and I left the park with the feeling that what my gut had been telling me for months was right. I needed to enroll Chickpea into this school. When I got home I told Paypay about my morning, that I wanted to make the change this week and he was in full support of it.
On Monday morning I called the school, asked for the director and after giving her a short summary she recalled us and pulled Chickpea's file. The director said that there were a few spots available and that they would be thrilled to have her join the school. I drove to the school, filled out the paperwork and paid the registration fee. I scheduled Chickpea to start on Wednesday am. I notified her current school of our decision and they were kind enough to say that if the new school doesn't work out there will always be a spot for us. It made me a little teary when I was speaking with the director but I knew that we were making the right choice for Chickpea.
We broke the news to Chickpea on Monday evening and drove by the new school. She remember it and recited everything she did during the evaluation meeting.
This morning Chickpea was all excited she woke me up at 6 am "Mom, wake up we need to prepare my lunch and get ready for school." At 20 minutes to 9 we entered her new classroom, put her lunch box and napping bag in her new cubby and went outside to join the other children. After I introduced her to her new teacher, she was off making new friends and didn't look back. I had dreaded drop-off because at the other school they were clingy, teary, tedious and could take up to 20 minutes for me to be able to leave the class. We were definitely off to a good start!
I'll pick her up tonight around 3 and i'm soooo looking forward to hearing all about her day.

Je l'ai finalement fait ..... J'ai fait le saut et j'ai inscrit Chickpea dans une nouvelle école.
Ca fait quelques temps que je pesent les pour et les contres d'inscrire Chickpea dans une autre école. En juillet Paypay et moi avons rencontré la directrice, son futur professeure, le professeur de français et sommes restés pour observer la classe en session. Nous avons été impressionnés et avons pris rendez-vous pour faire 'evaluer' Chickpea ; et elle a été acceptée. Cette école spécifique était notre premiere choix parce qu'ils ont un programme français. Bien que nous enseignions le français a Chickpea à la maison nous nous sentons qu'elle a besoin du temps supplementaire que cette école offre.
Cependant l'été avancait et avec la relocalisation possible dans quelques temps nous avons choisi de rester tel-quel et de voir ce qui se produirait. Nous avons gagné le gros projet et avons décidé de rester ici pour l'instant et d s'ajustez au besoin. Mais tout ceci a pris plus longtemps que nous avons prévu, l'école a commencé il y a 2 semaines et la nouvelle école a continué a etre dans mes pensées.
Dimanche matin Chickpea et moi sommes allés au parc car il faisait super beau et chaud a l 'extérieur. J'ai pris un siège sur le demi-mur et j'ai laissé Chickpea courir et s'amuser. Quelques minutes après être arrivé une autre maman et ses enfants sont arrivées. Elle s'est assise près de moi et nous avons commencer une conversation qui s'est tournée vers "Votre fille va-t-elle à l'école ? " "Oui, elle va ......, vos enfants vont-ils a l'école?" "Oui ils vont ..... "
Whoa minute! C'est l'école que je voulais envoyer Chickpea. Donc j'ai commencé à poser des questions et elle a répondu a toutes mes questions et en a rajouté apres ca!! Nous nous sommes parlées pendant plus d'une heure et j'ai quitté le parc avec le sentiment que le feeling que j'avais depuis des mois avait raison. Faillait que j'inscrit Chickpea dans cette école. Quand je suis arrivée à la maison que j'ai rancontré a Paypay mon avant-midi, que je voulais faire le changement cette semaine et il était daccord avec moi.
Lundi matin j'ai appelé l'école, ai demandé de parler avec la directrice et après lui avoir donné un résumé court elle s'est rappelés de nous et a prit le dossier a Chickpea. La directrice a dit qu'il y avait quelques places de disponibles et qu'elle sera contente d'acceuillir Chickpea dans son école. J'ai conduit à l'école, complétée la paperasse et payée les droits d'inscription. J'ai cédulé la premiere journée a Chickpea pour mercredi matin. J'ai informé son école courante de notre décision et elles étaient assez aimable pour dire que si la nouvelle école ne marche pas qu'il y aurait toujours une place pour nous. Ca ma rendu un peu emotionelle quand je parlais avec la directrice mais je savais que nous faisions le bon choix pour Chickpea.
Nous avons annoncé la nouvelle a Chickpea lundi soir et avons passé devant la nouvelle école pour lui montrer. Elle s'en ai rappelé et a tout éxpliquer ce qu'elle avait fait au cours de la réunion d'évaluation.
Ce matin Chickpea était tout excité elle m'a réveillé a 6 heures du matin "Maman, réveile-toi on doit préparer mon diner et me prepare pour l'ecole." A 8:40 nous sommes entrés dans sa nouvelle classe, mise sa boîte a diner et son sac a dos dans sa case et sommes allés dehors joindre les autres enfants. Après que je l'aie présentée à sa nouvelle professeure, elle était partie faire de nouveaux amis et n'a pas regarde en arrière. J'avais un peu peur de la laisser la parce qu'à l'autre école quand je la debarquait le matin elle me collait, etait triste, et ca pouvait me prendre 20 minutes pour que je puisse laisser la classe. Nous étions certainement à un bon début !
Je vais aller la chercher ce soir a 15:00 et j'ai bien hate de l'entrendre parle de sa journee.

We were impressed and scheduled Chickpea's 'evaluation' and she was accepted. This specific school was our top pick because they have a french program. Although we are teaching Chickpea french at home we feel she needs the extra time this school offers.
However as summer progressed and the impending possible relocation loomed over our heads we opted to stay put and see what would happen. We did win the big project and decided to stay here for now then adjust as time moves on. But all this took longer than we expected and school started 2 weeks ago and the new school kept creeping back into my mind.
On Sunday morning I took Chickpea to the park since it was beautiful and warm outside. I took a seat on the half wall and let Chickpea run around and have fun. A few minutes after arriving another mom and her kids arrived. She sat close by and we struck up a conversation which turned to "Does your daughter go to school?" "Yes, she's at ......, are your kids in school." "Yes they go to....."
Whoa wait a minute! that's the school I wanted to send Chickpea to. So I started asking questions and she was nice enough to answer them and then some! We talked for over an hour and I left the park with the feeling that what my gut had been telling me for months was right. I needed to enroll Chickpea into this school. When I got home I told Paypay about my morning, that I wanted to make the change this week and he was in full support of it.
On Monday morning I called the school, asked for the director and after giving her a short summary she recalled us and pulled Chickpea's file. The director said that there were a few spots available and that they would be thrilled to have her join the school. I drove to the school, filled out the paperwork and paid the registration fee. I scheduled Chickpea to start on Wednesday am. I notified her current school of our decision and they were kind enough to say that if the new school doesn't work out there will always be a spot for us. It made me a little teary when I was speaking with the director but I knew that we were making the right choice for Chickpea.
We broke the news to Chickpea on Monday evening and drove by the new school. She remember it and recited everything she did during the evaluation meeting.
This morning Chickpea was all excited she woke me up at 6 am "Mom, wake up we need to prepare my lunch and get ready for school." At 20 minutes to 9 we entered her new classroom, put her lunch box and napping bag in her new cubby and went outside to join the other children. After I introduced her to her new teacher, she was off making new friends and didn't look back. I had dreaded drop-off because at the other school they were clingy, teary, tedious and could take up to 20 minutes for me to be able to leave the class. We were definitely off to a good start!
I'll pick her up tonight around 3 and i'm soooo looking forward to hearing all about her day.

Je l'ai finalement fait ..... J'ai fait le saut et j'ai inscrit Chickpea dans une nouvelle école.
Ca fait quelques temps que je pesent les pour et les contres d'inscrire Chickpea dans une autre école. En juillet Paypay et moi avons rencontré la directrice, son futur professeure, le professeur de français et sommes restés pour observer la classe en session. Nous avons été impressionnés et avons pris rendez-vous pour faire 'evaluer' Chickpea ; et elle a été acceptée. Cette école spécifique était notre premiere choix parce qu'ils ont un programme français. Bien que nous enseignions le français a Chickpea à la maison nous nous sentons qu'elle a besoin du temps supplementaire que cette école offre.
Cependant l'été avancait et avec la relocalisation possible dans quelques temps nous avons choisi de rester tel-quel et de voir ce qui se produirait. Nous avons gagné le gros projet et avons décidé de rester ici pour l'instant et d s'ajustez au besoin. Mais tout ceci a pris plus longtemps que nous avons prévu, l'école a commencé il y a 2 semaines et la nouvelle école a continué a etre dans mes pensées.
Dimanche matin Chickpea et moi sommes allés au parc car il faisait super beau et chaud a l 'extérieur. J'ai pris un siège sur le demi-mur et j'ai laissé Chickpea courir et s'amuser. Quelques minutes après être arrivé une autre maman et ses enfants sont arrivées. Elle s'est assise près de moi et nous avons commencer une conversation qui s'est tournée vers "Votre fille va-t-elle à l'école ? " "Oui, elle va ......, vos enfants vont-ils a l'école?" "Oui ils vont ..... "
Whoa minute! C'est l'école que je voulais envoyer Chickpea. Donc j'ai commencé à poser des questions et elle a répondu a toutes mes questions et en a rajouté apres ca!! Nous nous sommes parlées pendant plus d'une heure et j'ai quitté le parc avec le sentiment que le feeling que j'avais depuis des mois avait raison. Faillait que j'inscrit Chickpea dans cette école. Quand je suis arrivée à la maison que j'ai rancontré a Paypay mon avant-midi, que je voulais faire le changement cette semaine et il était daccord avec moi.
Lundi matin j'ai appelé l'école, ai demandé de parler avec la directrice et après lui avoir donné un résumé court elle s'est rappelés de nous et a prit le dossier a Chickpea. La directrice a dit qu'il y avait quelques places de disponibles et qu'elle sera contente d'acceuillir Chickpea dans son école. J'ai conduit à l'école, complétée la paperasse et payée les droits d'inscription. J'ai cédulé la premiere journée a Chickpea pour mercredi matin. J'ai informé son école courante de notre décision et elles étaient assez aimable pour dire que si la nouvelle école ne marche pas qu'il y aurait toujours une place pour nous. Ca ma rendu un peu emotionelle quand je parlais avec la directrice mais je savais que nous faisions le bon choix pour Chickpea.
Nous avons annoncé la nouvelle a Chickpea lundi soir et avons passé devant la nouvelle école pour lui montrer. Elle s'en ai rappelé et a tout éxpliquer ce qu'elle avait fait au cours de la réunion d'évaluation.
Ce matin Chickpea était tout excité elle m'a réveillé a 6 heures du matin "Maman, réveile-toi on doit préparer mon diner et me prepare pour l'ecole." A 8:40 nous sommes entrés dans sa nouvelle classe, mise sa boîte a diner et son sac a dos dans sa case et sommes allés dehors joindre les autres enfants. Après que je l'aie présentée à sa nouvelle professeure, elle était partie faire de nouveaux amis et n'a pas regarde en arrière. J'avais un peu peur de la laisser la parce qu'à l'autre école quand je la debarquait le matin elle me collait, etait triste, et ca pouvait me prendre 20 minutes pour que je puisse laisser la classe. Nous étions certainement à un bon début !
Je vais aller la chercher ce soir a 15:00 et j'ai bien hate de l'entrendre parle de sa journee.
Empty Ice......Nice
The arena where we go skating has a half-price public skate every Friday from 11:00 to 3:00 so yesterday I asked Chickpea if she wanted to go. She was super excited to go, ran up to her room and got ready.
Since we were going to be there during lunch, I packed a lunch for the two of us and we headed to the arena. Although it was a beautiful day, I just wanted to get on the ice and skate. Luckily Chickpea loves to skate so its a win-win for the two of us. I prefer being able to do activities with her and not the mommy-and-me stuff where I stand by while she does stuff. Skating and swimming is something we do together and its so much fun.
Anyways getting back to our day, we arrived at the arena a little after noon, got our gear and walked into the building. Oh no the ice was empty! I asked the lady at the counter if the ice was open and she said yes until 3:00 this afternoon. Hot dog!!! We get the ice to ourselves! Wonderful.
As I was getting Chickpea ready she asked "Mom where are all the people?" I told her that we had the ice to ourselves and it was the perfect time for her to practice and have lots of fun.
It was a strange feeling getting on an empty ice and I felt like I was 14 again getting in position to begin my choreography. The music was good and we had a ball. We raced around the ice and I showed Chickpea how to snowplow break but she was more interested in just goofing around on the ice. I let her do whatever she wanted as we were alone.
Every once in a while Chickpea would head to the bench for a short break. While she was there I attempted a few spins and basic jumps. Whoa! Definitely not 14 anymore......but at heart I felt 14.... it was fantastic and felt good. It had been a good 20+ years since I did any of that.
We stayed on the ice for almost 2 hours and all during that time no one else joined us. Empty Ice......Nice Indeed!

L'arèna où nous allons patiner a un patin public à moitié prix chaque vendredi de 11:00 à 3:00 . Hier j'ai demandé a Chickpea si elle voulait aller. Elle était super excite à y aller, a couru a sa chambre, s'est habille et était prête.
Puisque nous allions être là durant le diner, j'ai preparé un pique-nique pour nous deux et nous nous sommes dirigées à l'arèna. Meme si c'était une belle journée, j'vais hate d'embarquer sur la glace et de patiner. Heureusement Chickpea aime patiner et s'est super pour nous deux car je préfère faire des activités avec elle et pas les maman-et-moi jeux où je me tiens prêt tandis qu'elle joue. Le patinage et la natation sont des activites que nous faisons ensemble et s'est tellement amusant.
En revenant à notre journée, nous sommes arrivées à l'arène un peu après midi, avons prit nos sacs et sommes entrées dans le bâtiment. Oh non, la glace était vide! J'ai demandé à la dame au compteur si la glace était ouverte et elle disait oui jusqu'à 3:00 cet après-midi. Hot-dog!!! Nous avons toute la glace a nous! Merveilleux!!
Pendant que je mettais les patins sur Chickpea elle m'a demandé "Maman où sont toutes les personnes?" Je lui ai dit que nous avons la glace à nous-mêmes et c'était le temps parfait pour qu'elle pratique et de s'amuser.
C'était drole d'embarquer sur la glace toute-seule je me sentais comme j'avais 14 ans et je me mettais en position de commencer ma choregography. La musique était bonne et nous avons eu due bon temps sur la glace. Nous avons faites des courses autour de la glace et j'ai montré à Chickpea comment arreter en chasse-neige mais elle était plus intéressé à s'amuser. Je l'ai laissée faire ce qu'elle voulait car nous étions seules.
De temps à autre Chickpea se dirigerait au banc pour une petite pause. Tandis qu'elle était là j'ai essayé quelques spins et sauts de base. Whoa ! Certainement plus 14 ans ...... mais au coeur encore 14…. c'était fantastique et ca a fait du bien car ca faisait presque 20 ans depuis que j'ai fait ca.
Nous sommes restées sur la glace pendant presque 2 heures et pendant tout ce temps personne ne s'est joints a nous. Une glace vide ...... super !

Adventures at a gas station
Since Paypay is far away I can post this .......
A few days ago we were at Costco putting gas in the car. Paypay pulls up to the pump, gets out of the car then a few moments later yanks the door open and.....
Paypay: "Our debit card was declined, give me yours...."
Kathou: "What do you mean declined? why was it declined...."
Paypay" "I don't know, but it was declined"
Kathou opens her wallet and hands over a card.
Paypay: "They don't accept credit cards, give me your debit card....."
Kathou hands over the other debit card.
Paypay closes the door to return a few moments later and yanks the door open again.
Paypay: "This card was also declined!"
Kathou: "That's impossible, let me try."
Kathou gets out of the car, heads to the pump with the cards in her hands, Paypay is on her trail and he's not too happy by now. Kathou swipes the Costco card, then one of the debit cards....
Paypay: "It's going to be declined, you're wasting your time......."
Kathou ignores him, punches in the PIN then the screen displays "Lift the pump and select the grade........." then looks at Paypay..
Kathou: "What's the problem, this is working fine."
Paypay: "What did you do?"
Kathou: "I swiped the cards, entered the PIN and......"
Paypay: "PIN????? I entered in the zip code....... euh thanks"
Kathou smirks and gets back in the car......

Kathou: "Refuse? Pourquoi a-t-elle ete refuse...."
Paypay" "Je ne sais pas, mais elle a ete refusee"
Kathou ouvre son portefeuille et lui donne une carte.
Paypay: "Ils n'accepte pas les cartes de credit, donne-moi ta carte....."
Kathou lui donne l'autre carte de debit.
Paypay ferme la porte pour revenir quelques instants plus tard et ouvre la porte encore un fois.
Paypay: "Cette carte a ete refusee elle aussi!"
Kathou: "C'est impossible, laisse moi l'essayer."
Kathou sort de l'auto, se dirige vers les pompes avec les cartes, Paypay en arriere d'elle et il n'est pas trop content ca ce point-ci. Kathou glisse la carte du Costco esuite la carte de debit.....
Paypay: "Elle va etre refuse, tu perds ton temps......."
Kathou l'ignore, tape les numero du NIP et a l'ecran s'affice "Lever la pompe et faites votre selection........." ensuite elle regarde Paypay.
Kathou: "C'est quoi le problem, ca marche bien."
Paypay: "Qu'est-ce-que tu as fait?"
Kathou: "J'ai passe les cartes, tapper le NIP et ......"
Paypay: "NIP????? J'ai taper les code postal....... euh merci"
Kathou rit et retourne dans l'auto......

Kayaking with Aunt Nancy
When we were planning our trip to Southern CA little did we know that our arrival would overlap with my sister being at my mom's during the same time. We had a couple of fun days together before she and her hubby headed back home to Quebec.
She asked if she could take Chickpea kayaking and snorkeling at La Jolla beach. We agreed and Chickpea was super excited to go although she didn't want to get into the water and made it very clear the she wanted to stay in the boat. We watch them gear-up, head to the beach then out onto the water. While they were gone Paypay and I setup the beach gear and enjoyed the sun. When they got back I asked Chickpea if she got into the water and she responded with a very animated "YES!" and that she had alot of fun. They saw lots of fish and sea lions. I asked if she saw the Nurse Sharks and she said "no, no sharks". My brother-in-law said that while they were kayaking he turned around and saw that Chickpea had fallen asleep in the boat. I was looking forward to seeing those pictures and Yes, she did fall asleep!
We had some lunch then headed into the water for some wave jumping and boogie boarding. The water was really warm and no seaweed which is a big plus for Paypay because he truly hates swimming when there's seaweed. I don't mind the seaweed too much but I love to throw it at Paypay but he doesn't really appreciate that :o)

Quand nous avons préparé notre voyage au CA nous savions pas que notre arrivée était quelques jours avant que ma soeur et son mari retourne au Québec. Nous avons passé quelques jours de bon temps ensemble.
Ma soeur m'a demandé si elle pourrait apporter Chickpea faire du kayaking et snorkeling à la plage de La Jolla. Nous avons accepte et Chickpea avait bien hate d'y aller mais elle ne voulait pas aller dans l'eau et c'etait très clair qu'elle voulait rester dans le bateau. Nous les avons vu s'habiller, marcher vers la plage puis partir sur l'eau. Pendant qu'ils étaient partis Paypay et moi nous nous sommes installés sur la plage et avons pris du soleil. Quand ils sont revenus j'ai demandé a Chickpea si elle est allé dans l'eau et elle m'a répondu avec un "OUI!" très anime et qu'elle s'est beaucoup amusé. Elles ont vu beaucoup de poissons et des loup de mer. J'ai demandé si elle a vu des requins et elle m'a dit "non pas de requins". Mon beau-frere m'a dit que Chickpea s'est endormi dans le bateau. J'avais bien hate de voir les photos et oui, elle est tombée endormi !
Nous avons diner puis dans l'eau pour sauter les vagues et faire du boogie boarding. L'eau était vraiment chaude et pas trop d'algue qui est un grand plus pour Paypay parce qu'il déteste vraiment nager quand il y a trop d'algue. Mais ca me dérange pas trop mais j'aime bien en jeter à Paypay mais il n'apprécient vraiment cela :o)

Here's the situation..... Chickpea, Paypay and Kathou are in the house (because it's raining) playing catch and having fun goofing around. Kathou and Paypay start to playfully wrestle for the ball to make Chickpea laugh......
Chickpea stops playing, keeps the ball in her hands and walks up to Kathou and Paypay on the other side of the room......
Chickpea: "Stop it or I'll write your parents a Note!"
She then turns around and stomps back to her spot.
Kathou and Paypay look at each other and bust out laughing......

Voici la situation...... Chickpea, Paypay et Kathou sont dans la maison (parce qu'il pleut dehors) jouant au ballon et en faisant des conneries. Kathou et Paypay commence a lutter pour le ballon pour faire rire Chickpea ......
Chickpea cesse de jouer, garde le ballon dan ses mains et travers la piece vers Kathou et Paypay qui sont de l'autre côté de la salle ......
Chickpea: "Arrêtez ou j'écris à vos parents une note ! "
Elle tourne le dos et retourne a sa place. Kathou et Paypay regardent l'un l'autre et éclatent de rire ......

I Match.....
In the past, I would layout two different options of clothes for the day and ask Chickpea choose one. After doing this for months she asked why are these two are together? I explained how clothes need to "match and be weather appropriate", she couldn't wear shorts when it was cold outside, jeans when its hot and how colors go together. She caught on fairly quickly and recently she told me that she wanted to choose "by herself". I'm thinking OK, she's done fairly well and i've asked her to change only a few times.
Yesterday afternoon, Paypay and Chickpea spent time in the hot tub while I was making dinner. I called them in and asked Chickpea to go upstairs and change for dinner. She came down a few minutes later, all proud of herself "Mom, look I match!!!" I looked up and yep she sure did match...... butterflies and all........

Dans le passe, je mettais deux ensembles de vetement sur le lit et demandais a Chickpea de choisir celui qu'elle voulait pour la journee. Apres avoir fait cela pendant des mois elle ma demande pourquoi ceux-la vont ensemble? Je lui ai expliquer que les vetements "aille ensemble et soient correcte pour la temperature", qu'elle ne pouvait pas porter des shortes quand il faisait froid, des jeans quand il faisit chaud et que les couleurs coordonne ensemble. Elle a comprit assez vite et tout recemment elle m'a dit qu'elle voulait choisir ses vetements "elle-meme". Je me suis dis OK, elle a bien choisi et je lui ai demander de changer que quelques fois.
Hier apres-midi, Paypay et Chickpea on passe du temps dans le spa pendant que je preparais le souper. Je leur ai dit que le souper etait pret et j'ai demande a Chickpea d'aller se changer. Elle descend quelques minutes plus tard, toute fiere d'elle-meme "Maman, regardes mes vetements vont ensemble!!!" Je regarde et ouap c'est sure qu'elle allait ensemble..... papillons et tout......

Milestone Acheived
We're off to celebrate an official milestone today. We sent to Olga our 4th and last post-placement report today!!! I can now proudly say that the adoption process for Chickpea is completely done and over with. No more paperwork.
Yahoo!!!!! Now let's celebrate!
